Other Information
Ground Transportation
Ground transportation is provided by Sherpa from the Edinburgh International Airport (EDI) on the first day, to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, and back to EDI on the last day.- Book flights to arrive at EDI by 1 PM, on Monday, April 27, 2026.
- Book flights to depart EDI after 2 PM, on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
- These times are unconditional due to the distance between EDI and Lindisfarne and due to the tide schedule! You don’t want to miss the bus or your flight, so observe these times.
Meals
- All meals are provided from dinner (the evening meal) on Monday, April 27, through lunch on Sunday, May 3.
- Please ensure that you list any food allergies or dietary restrictions on the registration form.
Mobility Information
- We will be walking some uneven and grassy terrain during our Walking Tour of the Holy Island; but this is optional for those with mobility difficulties.
- Please list any mobility restrictions on the registration form.
Packing Information
- You will carry your own bags, so plan to pack light.
- Bed/bath linens and minimal toiletries are provided. Bring any special products or grooming devices that you need.
Packing for Weather
- The average high for April is 50°, and the average low is 40°, with an average of 5 hours of sunshine a day, and 15 days with some rainfall in the month (totaling 1.7 inches). The water temperature of the sea is 45°. May is slightly warmer and slightly rainier.
- Dress in layers and bring rain gear and shoes that can get wet. We will have a walking tour of Holy Island on Tuesday afternoon (even if it’s raining) and a guided tour onto Holy Island during low tide on Saturday (for those who choose to join).
- For the tidal walk, consider bringing old tennis shoes you can throw away afterward. Avoid jeans (they become heavy when soaked). Cotton-synthetic blends work better, and rain pants work best.
Insurance Information
- Check with your insurance provider on their international benefits (for example, whether you have medical coverage overseas).
- When booking your flights, consider adding international travel insurance. (Allianz, for example, offers international medical coverage, trip cancellation, flight delay, and lost baggage coverage.) Your credit card may also offer limited trip insurance.
- Mission Assure, from AG Financial Insurance Services, offers inexpensive short-term medical insurance for international trips. You may find their Insurance and Assumption of Risk forms here: Mission Assure Forms
